Description: Welcome to the very first GMV playlist! Every month we will put out a playlist with 10 songs we think you should have heard by now. When listening to a GMV playlist there is only one rule: listen to the songs in the order they appear in the playlist the first time you listen through. Trust us - we’ve arranged the playlist like this for a reason 😉. We hope you enjoy the first instalment! Genres: RnB/Soul, Hip-Hop/Rap

GMV PLAYLIST 4: JUNE 2020
Description: Welcome to the June 2020 GMV playlist! Every month I put out a playlist with 10 songs I think you should have heard by now. I know you guys have extra time on your hands because of the current situation - I do too - so for every month we’re on lockdown, I’ll put out a playlist with 20 songs instead of 10 :). This playlist is quite special because it’s made up entirely of songs from my favourite hybrid genres: Neo-Soul Hip-Hop, Electronic RnB and Melodic Rap. Frankly, with the times we’re in I’m only listening to these genres because they directly feed my soul - they make me feel, so to speak. I hope you enjoy my first theme-titled playlist :)) There’s also music by recent interviewees from my blog on here too (‘Dre the Monarch’ and ‘Mya K’), so let them know if you enjoyed it ! Also, stay tuned for my blog post about the evolution and merging of genres :)) The songs in this playlist have been ordered in the way I feel is the most cohesive and gives the best listening experience, however feel free to listen to this one on shuffle if you’d prefer! Happy Listening❤️

GMV PLAYLIST 5: JULY 2020
Description: Welcome to the July 2020 GMV playlist! Every month we put out a playlist with 10 songs we think you should have heard by now. We know you guys have extra time on your hands because of the current situation - we do too - so for every month we’re on lockdown, we’ll put out a playlist with 20 songs instead of 10 :). This playlist is an ode to the founding fathers of some of the more popular genres of today. The global transition from the disco/funk era of the ‘60s to mid ‘70s, to the hip-hop/rap/rnb era of the late ‘70s to early ‘90s was pioneered by the African American community at that time and fathered the music scene as we know it. This sound had engulfed most of the rest of the world by the early ‘00s, and we can still see the influence of this era in the music we listen to today from Drake’s samples to Freddie Gibbs’ rap style. These were truly some of the greatest records ever released. The songs in this playlist have been ordered in the way we feel is the most cohesive and gives the best listening experience, however feel free to listen to this one on shuffle if you’d prefer! Happy Listening❤️

GMV PLAYLIST 6: JANUARY 2021
Description: Happy New Year everyone!! Welcome back to the GMV. As indicated by the title of this playlist (SONGS THAT MADE THE LAST SIX MONTHS REMOTELY BEARABLE), things really got intense for a lot of us when schools opened back up earlier last year and we were thrown into a very gruelling and intense semester with barely any support. As a result, many of us were caught off guard and had to spend a lot more time than planned trying to stay afloat. The GMV were among those fell victim to this fate, and unfortunately were forced to take an unplanned hiatus. While we can’t fix the past, we hope this playlist can help make up for it ❤️. This is a grand collection of the top songs (that haven’t been featured in any previous playlists) that pushed us through the second half that nightmare of a year. These songs are from a wide array of years, artists and genres (although there’s a very strong bias towards both retro & neo RnB). They’re not arranged in any particular order either, meaning this playlist is really best enjoyed shuffled. It’s just a collection of songs that made us feel something. We hope you enjoy it, happy listening! ❤️

GMV PLAYLIST 7: FEBRUARY 2021
DESCRIPTION: Welcome to the 7th edition of the GMV monthly playlist! This month’s playlist is dedicated to LOVE. Before you roll your eyes, we’ve worked hard to make sure that this playlist is reflective of what love is really like: divine, ugly, fun, nauseating, confusing, exhilarating, life giving, soul draining and just straight up beautiful. As such, the songs in this playlist have been ordered in a way that should hopefully take you on an emotional rollercoaster and we do advise that you listen to it in that order. We hope you enjoy, happy listening! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💖
